The Activity "Students Report" is a fundamental part of this course, where Students will study and report on a recently published articles on the subjects of this course.  

Students will set-up groups of two persons, and they will interact using on-line sharing systems, for example using UniTo Google Drive googledocs or googleslides that allow working on the same file in two or more persons at the same time, also with the help of a chat window (You will find a guide for this shortly). 

The steps for Students Report are the following:

1. Forming groups (2 persons)

2. selecting a research article related to one of the four Chapters of this course. The article must be a research report (not a review article), published from January 1st 2018 up to date. Select only major journals: Nature, Nature Genetics, Nature Structural Biology, Nature Cell Biology, Science, Cell, Molecular Cell, Genes & Development, PLoS Genetics, EMBO J, or in any case a Journal with a good Impact Factor (10 or higher (see the journal webpage for this) ( IF ) and, of course, not discussed during lessons. 

3. put the PMID or doi in the Table of Reports that will be prepared for all the Students in Moodle and wait for acceptance by the Professors.

5. Study thoroughly and cooperatively identify the most important aspects of the paper you have chosen.

6. prepare a presentation (e.g. on google slides or Power Point or any) around 20-max 25 minutes.

7. present your report (both students present a part) on a webconference (using webex-screen sharing) during the time slots assigned. In your presentation, make clear 1) what was the main scientific question addressed by the Authors; 2) which experimental approach they used to answer (if common methodology you can skip, if special methods datail); 3) which key results are shown in the paper; 4) the novel knowledge this paper is giving to the scientific community.

Your Report will be evaluated, giving a grade up to 30. To this grade, up to 4 points will be added related to the global evaluation of your participation in course activities. The sum will be your grade for the "Internal activities" set. 

This Internal Activities grade will contribute 1:1:1 with "Test" and "Interview" to compose your final grade.
